'Holiday Inspiration'

Prior to my art exhibition last month, we seized the opportunity of my daughter finishing high school to enjoy a short trip to Cornwall before the summer holidays officially began.

One of the days we visited Tintagel Castle and this is a watercolour and pastel sketch I did looking down and across the spectacular coastline there. We were lucky with the weather and although I feel I haven't quite captured the true colour of the sea, it looked glorious and turquoise in places.

We also explored Merlin's Cave, a cave located beneath Tintagel Castle, this may feature in my next painting, watch this space!

There's a few days remaining of the Isle of Wight Open Studios Showcase Exhibition if you still haven't had a chance to visit, it's on at the Quay Arts Centre, Newport, Isle of Wight until Sunday 4th August in the Cafe and Clayden Gallery, open 9am-5pm, free entry.

And if you didn't get a chance to visit me at my exhibition last month then the good news is I'll be back in the same spot again (back room of Godshill Methodist Church) on 3-7th September from 10am - 5pm daily where this time I'll be participating in the Island's Open Studios event happening all across the Island. The Open Studio event starts on 23 August until 8th September for more information visit isleofwightopenstudios.co.uk/
