I was hoping to have had this one finished by now but rather annoyingly life has got in the way too much this month.
This painting is inspired by an early morning dog walk on Shanklin beach looking towards Knock Cliff, I especially loved the cloud reflections on the wet beach and was drawn to paint them.
I started by painting wet on wet watercolour. Wet on wet is a watercolour technique that uses wet paint against wet paint or wet paper. It's used to create beautiful bleeds and blooms between areas of colour and allow the watercolour paint to spread and blend which really suited the effect I was trying to achieve for the foreground and the sky, it has given me this wonderful colourful blurring to replicate the wet beach and soft clouds, I then painted the darker cliff in more detail. I think I just need to add a little more detail to the sea and include some groynes and then I'll leave well alone!
